Surrey, B.C. – Surrey’s communities saw a major spring cleanup this month, thanks to the dedicated efforts of city crews during a two-week “Clean Blitz.” During this effort, staff collected 1,502 bags of litter and removed 2,645 illegally dumped items, significantly enhancing the community’s cleanliness and appearance.
“Creating a livable, beautiful, and safe city is a top priority for our Council,” said Mayor Locke. “The Clean Blitz plays a vital role in achieving this vision and fostering community pride. I want to commend our staff for their hard work and encourage residents to contribute to our efforts by taking advantage of the free programs available. These include the year-round Large-item Pick-up service and the ongoing Free Waste Drop-Off promotion, which help keep Surrey clean and vibrant.”
This was Surrey’s first Clean Blitz of the year with another one scheduled for the end of August.
Residents can do their own spring cleaning and take advantage of the following programs:
- Drop off waste (up to 100kg) plus 4 mattresses for free at Metro Vancouver’s Central Surrey (6711 – 154 Street) and North Surrey (9770 192 Street) Recycling and Waste Centres.
